It is known that these music bands are training spaces and locals of great importance in the context of Brazilian music education, considering that most of the wind instrumentalists in professional activity are from these bands. These spaces are considered non-formal training spaces for music teaching due to its characteristics. For this investigation, interviews were conducted, as well as observations of the teaching activities in the chosen bands, having as example investigation works made in other countries. The collected data were analyzed in the light of music education authors such as Schroeder (2005) and Schroeder and Schroeder (2011). Epistemological principles were observed according to the sociocultural view of authors such as Bakhtin (2006, 2016), Vigotsky (2007, 2008, 2010) Elliot (1995) and Gohn (2006, 2015). The analysis found similarities between teaching practices in bands and in formal music education institutions, which are the destination of most bands students who participated of the investigation. The profile of the student formed by the music bands was also outlined, verifying that this profile is close to what the bands intends to form. With the comparison between non-formal and formal teaching procedures, some possible paths for a dialogue aiming a better use of the cultural baggage brought by the students are presented. The results are expected to contribute to studies on the practices of music education in non-formal situations.Livro Acesso aberto (Open Access) [Caderno de resumo e anais do] 48º ENARTE: Encontro de Artes de Belém(Editora da Escola de Música da UFPA, 2022) DONZA, Cibelle Jemima Almeida; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3767757955617874Livro Acesso aberto (Open Access) Caderno de resumos e anais do 49º ENARTE: Encontro de Artes de Belém(Editora da Escola de Música da UFPA, 2023) QUEIROZ, Rômulo Mota de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5347276155545809
